ASTRO Malaysia

Malaysia’s largest pay-television service ASTRO began operations in 1996 with just 22 channels. It has since expanded its broadcasts of local, regional and international programming to over 125 channels, available to nearly 3 million households across Malaysia and Brunei.

As more television channels were added and genres created, a more cohesive structure was needed. A fresh new look was needed for the overall branding of ASTRO’s eight core channels – AEC, Ceria, Prima, Ria, Supersport, TVIQ, Vaanavil and WLT.

We examined ASTRO’s programming structure then evaluated the strategy and effectiveness of its existing programme blocks. With a brand structure that catered for the future, we then went on to refine the logos of the core channels along with their individual branding and packaging.  This included main IDs, sub-IDs, promo tops and tails, end-tags and end-pages, lower-thirds, side-thirds, corner bugs, sponsor plates as well as music coordination.
